How It All Started

Dr. Julia Leeseknew she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of 9. She had her own horse at the age of 11 and by 12 she was volunteering in her uncle’s veterinary clinic in Tennessee called Mountain Empire Equine Services. From there she became a member of a rodeo team and received the 4H National Horsemanship Awardin 1987. The award was accompanied with a $5,000 college scholarship.

Dr. Leese spent her undergraduate years on the Dean’s List at the Universityof Idaho and received her Bachelor Degree in Animal Science in 1991.While working 50 hours a week at four different jobs, she finished her education at Washington State University and graduated with her DVM in 1995.

In the spirit of her uncle and the years she spent volunteering for him, Julia A Leese, DVM opened Mountain Empire Veterinary Services in January of 1999. Through hard work and dedication, Dr. Leese opened the new clinic in hopes of being able to help people and their pets receive a better experience in a like-home veterinary practice.

We Have A Mission

On 2003, Dr. Leese expanded the clinic to include boarding, professional grooming, self-service dog wash facilities, and an adoption center. This adoption center is called Julia's Jungle. Julia's Jungle provides a clean and safe environment for all animals that stay or just come to visit.Dr. Leese also volunteers her time at vaccination clinics and also gives free seminars for pony clubs.
